OfficeMax has teamed up with Barnardos to help create some magic for less fortunate children this Christmas.
Until mid-December, OfficeMax customers can donate new or pre-loved toys in-store to help more than 9,000 families receive gifts and much-needed help this festive season.
The toys will then be distributed by Barnardos social workers to disadvantaged Kiwi families.
OfficeMax New Zealand Managing Director Kevin Obern said the appeal aims to help make the Christmas period a time of happiness for everyone and especially children.
“When people come into their local OfficeMax store and donate, their contribution will make a difference to a child who would otherwise not have such a special Christmas,” he said.
“People can donate new or pre-loved toys and place it in the Barnardos gift-giving box in-store.”
Barnardos Chief Executive Jeff Sanders said one in six Kiwi children are living in poverty, without basic comforts such as healthy food, a warm home or medical assistance.
“A notable percentage of the families we support unfortunately live in situations where housing and lack of income are a daily struggle,” he said.
“My Christmas wish is for a future where all children feel safe, happy and treasured in their homes and communities, in the festive season and always.”
