Let's Get Started!
Use chalk to draw the outline of your picture. The lines need to be clear so a thick chalk works best. Keeping the application of chalk light will allow the dye to fully penetrate during the dyeing process.
Use crayon to colour inside your chalk outlines. Make sure you use a heavy layer of crayon that goes right up to the edge of the line and no paper can be seen through the crayon. Be careful not to colour over your chalk lines. Try and blend colours together to create depth in your picture.
Mix the powder dye, adding more powder than you normally use to ensure it is a very dark black. Use a soft brush or sponge to wash over your picture with the dye. The chalk lines will absorb the dye, creating an outline for the areas of crayon. A certain amount of dye will remain on the crayon adding character to the picture, If too much dye is on your crayon gently dab it away with a paper towel.
